ACA Can Diagnose Your Problems

Throughout Southern California, vehicle owners rely on their cars, trucks, vans and SUVs on a daily basis. Driving conditions such as heavy traffic or stop and go driving can damage your vehicle’s engine and other components, even when you follow a scheduled maintenance routine. When your automobile breaks down or is not performing properly, you need an auto repair shop that can handle all makes and models, foreign and domestic to make the necessary repairs, quickly, professionally and at a fair price.

In California, there are stringent laws regarding vehicles and pollution. Your car’s catalytic converter is an important component in keeping you compliant with these laws by reducing the polluting toxins your car releases back into the atmosphere. Over time, every vehicle’s catalytic converter loses its capacity to bind the excess waste produced by your car’s engine and will have to be repaired or replaced. The first clue that your catalytic converter needs repair is that you fail the annual smog test required by the state of California. Many times you’ll only need a quick adjustment to your emission system, but if these simple adjustments don’t work, then the catalytic converter pressure must be tested to check if the exhaust is flowing with acceptable pressure.

Bad Catalytic Converter

Other symptoms of a bad catalytic converter include low power, stalling, poor gas mileage and even overheating. Once the converter is repaired, these issues may disappear. A simple test that the ACA professionals will perform is to measure the exhaust pressure entering and exiting the converter. Unbalanced pressure readings reveal that you need to repair your catalytic converter. Some helpful information to keep in mind is that every catalytic converter comes with a 7 year or 70,000 mile warranty which is mandated by the Federal Government. If your car falls within those criteria, have the repair done, otherwise you will incur the cost of the converter repair/replacement.

California Retirement Program

Additionally, some states, including California, offer low-income assistance in helping pay for your auto repair. Application to the program is required, and income must be verified. California also offers a vehicle retirement program that pays up to $1,000 to take your non-compliant vehicle off the road. Again, application to the program is required, but once you are approved, you will receive instructions on where to drop off your car. If you experience any of the symptoms above, Advanced Computer Automotive is ready to help. We will diagnose clutch problems, transmission problems accurately the first time and fix clutch problems to OEM standard.
